TI: Sharing of Satellite Imagery Data Products from DSA/CPTEC/INPE and New Developments for these Data Distribution

AB: Asiel Bomfin Jr., Cachoeira Paulista, S.P., Brazil; The DSA (Environmental Satellite Division)/CPTEC/INPE, located at INPE (Brazilian National Institute for Space Research) is a traditional provider of data, softwares and services for researchers, forecasters and decision makers in Brazil and South America. DSA is a reference for space science, especially in satellite imagery products, and environmental studies. The data-sharing component of the Unidata Internet Data Distribution (IDD) can be used to disseminate from DSA satellite image data in Mcdias format to university participants in both the South American IDD-Brazil and North American IDD. Since 2005-october was developed and operational implemented two softwares:"grv_Mcdias_ams.c" (South America Images) and "grv_Mcdias_glb.c" (Global Images). Both has the capability to convert the DSA satellite Goes image data Infrared, visible and water vapour channels in Mcdias format; and sends it automatically to distribution througth IDD in a temporal resolution of 30 minutes. The main process of these softwares are: read the DSA binary images, latitudes and longitudes informations, numbers of lines and rows, pixels per byte, element resolution and all of infomations need for navigation and to create an Area Data Entry (Ade) for each image to finaly generate a correct header to Mcdias image and join it with the binary image.
