AB: Since 2004, an adaptation of the Physical-Space Statistical Analysis System (PSAS) of Global Modeling and Assimilation Office (GMAO/NASA) has been used with the Atmospheric Global Circulation Model (AGCM) of the Brazilian Center for Weather Forecast and Climatic Studies (CPTEC/INPE). This works shows the current operational state of the PSAS in CPTEC/INPE. This includes the computational system that were created/adapted to receive and to pre-process the observed global data and the principal results obtained with the use of High Resolution satellite data. The results have indicated a significant improvement in the weather forecast skill over the Southern Hemisphere when the satellite data is included. The perspectives are that PSAS with AGCM will be fully operational this year.
