The SCCU can be easily transported by one person, set up at the job site within minutes, and includes everything required to operate and monitor DeepSea video cameras and lights while making video and audio recordings. The SCCU continues DeepSea's trend of producing extremely rugged imaging products for real applications at competitive prices. The color LCD display, for example, can withstand mechanical shock that would damage a CRT monitor. The VCR, which is protected during transport within a pop-up rack-mount, "floats" on a leaf spring suspension system. All components are hard-mounted and secure within the Suitcase CCU when in transport. An isolation transformer combined with a ground fault circuit interrupt provides 2 layers of electrical safety.
A complete set of input and output connectors maximize the available configurations. For example, the output connections allow for remote monitor/VCR setups for the customer or agency inspectors while the SCCU is positioned with the tender at the scene of diver deployment. Operators can hook up cameras to the SCCU using banana jacks and BNC terminations and lights via the AC outlets, or specify a cable for all components that takes advantage of the 14-pin universal connector. A video titler can be connected in seconds using the auxiliary video connector. Included with the SCCU is a clear plastic rain hood with drawstring that protects the unit during operation in wet environments.
