Summary

The SeaLogger is an ultra small, stand-alone temperature logger that utilizes an Onset Computer HOBO. The HOBO utilizes a low-power CMOS microprocessor, an 8 bit A-D converter and a 2400 baud RS-232 serial interface. Up to 1800 measurements can be stored in non-volatile EPROM memory. A single lithium battery powers the SeaLogger for up to two years. Deployment durations can be adjusted to 31 settings between 15 minutes and 360 days, giving measurement intervals of 0.5 seconds to 3.8 hours. Launch/retrieval software is used to set the measurement duration and label the data set, as well as to file, graph, or export the returned data. Both Macintosh and PC Windows versions are available.

The SeaLogger is available with an optional 24-inch extended probe. Both models have plastic handles on them designed to be easily grasped by a manipulator. Each model is available in three temperature ranges. Resolution at best is equal to the total range divided by 256 for the 8 bit A-D converter times 0.8.

The SeaLogger housing is constructed of titanium and is depth rated to 6,000 meters of seawater (19,500 FSW).
