GEODAS Databases

GEODAS software is used for the following databases (or subsets thereof):

• Marine Trackline Geophysics - worldwide deep ocean bathymetry, magnetics and gravity data found on the Version 4.0 CD/DVD set
• NOS Hydrographic Surveys - detailed bathymetry collected in detailed surveys by the National Ocean Service in U.S. waters, found on the Version 4.0 CD/DVD set.
• Aeromagnetic Survey Data - held by the Solid Earth Division of NGDC. Includes "Project Magnet" Collection, as well as many other worldwide surveys.
• GEODAS Gridded Databases - Bathymetric grids of various areas, offered by NGDC.

CD sets for each of the GEODAS databases (or subsets) are distributed separately. For example there are currently CD/DVD sets for Marine Trackline Geophysics, NOS Hydrographic Surveys, Project Magnet Aeromagnetics and Minnesota Aeromagnetics, NGDC Coastal Relief Model sets, Great Lakes Bathymetry sets, and ETOPO2 Global 2-Minute Gridded Elevation Data. Grids. Each of these sets will contain the inventory files for that GEODAS database. You can obtain inventories for other databases from: ftp.ngdc.noaa.gov/MGG/geodas/inventories The GEODAS XWindows software can perform Searches for the data in these ftp'ed databases.
