Step By Step: Great Lakes Bathymetry

1. Install Great Lakes Bathymetry

GEODAS Software can run on MS Windows and UNIX Xwindows.

2. Start GEODAS

MS Windows:
Run the various GEODAS applications from the Windows Start menus. Start -> Programs -> GEODAS -> GEODAS Application

UNIX Xwindows:
Simply type geodas at the xterm prompt. Be sure the application geodas is in your PATH environment and that you have read permissions. This will start the GEODAS Launch Pad.

3. Click on Great Lakes Bathymetry

This will launch your Browser, with the appropriate start page. You must have mounted a Great Lakes Bathymetry cd.

4. Navigate the Great Lakes Bathymetry web pages

The web page files are located on the GEODAS cd. They include links to various images and vector files as well as information about the Great Lakes Bathymetry cd. The Access To Grids button will let you view shaded relief images of one-degree grid files. Just click on the 1 degree x 1 degree grid within the image and the Browser will load the image.

5. Create Custom Grids

Create custom grids with your own chosen limits, cells sizes etc. by launching the Grid Translator Application from this page using the Design-a-Grid Button. (You can also run the Grid Translator Application directly.)
