The GEODAS Data Management System manages various gridded databases. These databases are offered by the National Geophysical Data Center (NGDC) as CD/DVDs. GEODAS software assimilates, manages, quality-controls, and disseminates these data. With the provided software the user can create custom grids, merging the GEODAS Gridded Databases together if desired. The user determines parameters of their grids, including lat/lon limits, cell size, number type, format, etc. At this time GEODAS Gridded Databases offered by NGDC include:
NGDC Coastal Relief Model
Great Lakes Bathymetry
ETOPO2 Global Gridded Elevation Data
To run the software for these Gridded Databases see Step by Step: GEODAS Gridded Databases.
Each GEODAS Gridded Database CD/DVD contains a series of grids covering the area on the CD. Each of these CD grids is a block of n degrees by n degrees. The files are named according to a NGDC Id file naming scheme.
Additional information about these data can be found by starting at the GEODAS Home Page at: www.ngdc.noaa.gov/mgg/geodas/
