Philip K. Jeans (S'75-M'77-M'85) was born in St. John's, Nfld., Canada, on January 18, 1954. He received the Bachelor degree in electrical engineering from Memorial University of Newfoundland, St. John's, Nfld., Canada, in 1977.

From 1977 through 1980, he was an employee of Canadian General Electric Co. Ltd. working on the design of digital and low power circuitry. In 1980 he joined the Centre for Cold Ocean Resources Engineering at Memorial University of Newfoundland. His primary research interest is in the field of HF ground-wave radar for measuring ocean surface currents.
