Tetsuo Nagamatu received the B.E. and M.Eng.Sc. degrees in naval architecture from Kyushu University, Japan, in 1968, and 1970, respectively, and the Dr. Eng. from the same university in 1986.

He has worked for the Nagasaki Research and Development Center of Mitsubishi Heavy Industries, Ltd. since 1970. He has been responsible for the general management of the ship and ocean laboratory of Nagasaki Research and Development Center of Mitsubishi Heavy Industries, Ltd. since 1994. His main research interests are in the field of ship hydrodynamics and hull form development. He is also interested in the dynamical modeling of motion of ROV.
