Frederick J. Jones (S'72-M'74) received the B.S. degree in electrical engineering and computer science from the University of California, Berkeley, in 1968, and did graduate work in ocean engineering at Oregon State University, Corvallis, in 1974. He received the M.P.A. (public administration) degree from the University of Washington, Seattle, in 1986.He was commissioned in the NOAA Corps in 1970 and currently has the rank of Commander. He has held a variety of engineering and operational assignments throughout NOAA and was the Commanding Officer of the NOAA ship McArthur before coming to his present assignment with the Pacific Marine Environmental Laboratory.
