James C. Luby (S'78-M'78) was born on June 10, 1953, in Hartford, CT. He received the B.S. degree in electrical engineering in 1976 from the University of Connecticut, Storrs, the M.S. degree in electrical engineering in 1978 from Colorado State University, Ft. Collins, and the Ph.D. degree in electrical engineering from the University of Washington, Seattle, in 1984.In 1978 he joined the Boeing Aerospace Corporation, Seattle, Washington. In 1979 he joined the Applied Physics Laboratory at the University of Washington where he currently works in the areas of underwater acoustic signal processing, simulation, and modeling.
