Dezhang Chu was born in Beijing, China, on February 27, 1957. He received the B.A. degree in electrical engineering from China University of Geosciences, Wuhan, China in 1982, and the Ph.D. degree in geophysics from the University of Wis consin, Madison, in 1989.He was a Postdoctoral Scholar at the Woods Hole Oceanographic Institution(WHOI) from 1989 to 1990 and a Postdoctoral Investigator at WHOI from 1990 to 1991. He is currently a Research Associate at WHOI in the Department of Applied Ocean Physics and Engineering. His research interests include wave propagation and reverberation in shallow-water, acoustic scattering, and seafloor characterization.
Dr. Chu is a member of the Acoustical Society of America.
