Tatsuro Akiba (M'98) was born in Tokyo, Japan, in 1962. He received the B.E. and Ph.D. degrees in electrical engineering from Osaka University, Osaka, Japan, in 1985 and 1990, respectively.
Between 1990 and 1992, he was a Post-Doctoral Fellow of the Japan Society for the Promotion of Science. He joined the Electrotechanical Laboratory (ETL), Agency of Industrial Science and Technology under the Ministry of International Trade and Industry, Hyogo, Japan, in 1992. He is presently a Senior Researcher at ETL. He is a member of an environmental sensing and analysis lab in Osaka. His main interests are image processing technologies for environmental sensing together with development of hardware.
Dr. Akiba is a member of the American Physical Society, the Optical Society of America, and the American Geophysical Union.
