Hema A. Murthy received the B.E. degree from Osmania University, Hyderabad. India, in 1980, and the M.Eng. degree from McMaster University, Hamilton, Ont., Canada, in 1986.From 1980 to 1983 she was a Scientific Officer in the Speech and Digital Systems Group of the Tata Institute of Fundamental Research, Bombay, India. During that time, she worked in the area of computer graphics. Since July 1986, she has been with the Department of Computer Science and Engineering, Indian Institute of Technology, Madras, India, pursuing the Doctorate degree. Her special interests are in the area of computer graphics, knowledge-based signal processing with applications to speech, image processing, and pattern recognition.
