Daniel Cano was born in 1957 in Sidi-Bel-Abbes, Algeria, France. He graduated from Ecole Nationale Superieure des Telecommunications (ENST), Paris, France, in 1980, where he received the Ph.D. degree in 1982.
From 1982 to 1984, he worked in a remote sensing laboratory at Ecole des Mines de Paris and then in the Thomson CSF group. He joined the Underwater Acoustic Department, Thomson Marconi Sonar in Sophia-Antipolis, involved in Signal & Information Processing in 1994. From 1986 to 1988, he worked in the Signal Processing laboratory at EPFL, Switzland, where he was involved in texture analysis and synthesis. He then returned to the Underwater Acoustic Department of Thomson, where he is in charge of sonar systems design. His field of interest includes signal and image processing, sonar, and communication systems.
