Bohdan (Dan) PILLICH is a graduate of Sydney University, with a B. Sc. Hons in Physical Oceanography. He is the Head of Tidal Section of the Hydrographic Service, Royal Australian Navy, and has been involved with development of tidal data acquisition, processing and telemetry from the very beginning of the project. He designed and conducted the tests of both, tide gauges and telemetry system for RAN, before accepting them into service. He and ins Section plan the deplopments of RAN tidal equipment, analyse the data, and provide the datums and sounding corrections for the hydrographic charts and surveys. They also predict tides and publish the Australian National Tide Tables and the Electronic Tide Tables Dan represents Australia at the International Hydrographic Organisation (IHO) Tidal Working Group, and at the IHO Committee on ECDIS (electromc chart) Data Base and Updating Working Groups.
