Christopher T. Carlson was born in Columbus, OH, on November 7, 1950. He received the B.S. degree in oceanic science and the M.S. degree in civil engineering (hydraulics) in 1974 and 1976, respectively, from the University of Michigan, Ann Arbor, and the Ph.D. degree in civil engineering from the University of California at Berkeley, in 1984.He is currently an Oceanographer with Sohio Petroleum Company, Dallas, TX. He was previously an Oceanographer with the Remote Measurements Laboratory of SRI International, Menlo Park, CA, for seven years. He has been involved in the collection, analysis, and interpretation of HF surface wave and skywave radar sea backscatter data, coastal wave and wave runup data, and upper ocean physical oceanographic data.
