Junzo Kasahara (M'94) received the B.S., M.S., and Dr. Sci. degrees in geophysics from the University of Nagoya, Nagoya, Japan, in 1965, 1967, and 1970, respectively.
He was employed as a Research Associate at the Earthquake Research Institute, University of Tokyo, Tokyo, Japan. Between 1974 and 1976 and in 1979, he has served as Visiting Associate Professor and Visiting Scientist, respectively, at the University of Hawaii. He worked at Nippon Schlumberger Co. Ltd., Fuchinobe, Japan, from 1986 to 1988. He engaged in AI workstation for geophysical survey and downhole measurement tools. Since 1988, he has worked at the Earthquake Research Institute, University of Tokyo, where he is currently a Professor. His research interests include marine seismological observation, marine data acquisition, tomographic study of the earth, and signal processing of seismic data.
