Liansheng Wang was born in Dalian, China, in 1956. He received the B.Eng. and M.Eng. degrees in underwater acoustical engineering from Harbin Engineering University, China, in 1982 and 1985, respectively, and the Ph.D. degree in physics for research studies into sound propagation in range dependent underwater channels from Bath University, U.K., in 1989.
He joined the Acoustic and Sonar Group, University of Birmingham, Birmingham, U.K., in 1990. His main research interests are in the areas of underwater propagation, parametric sonar, and underwater acoustic communications.
