Pierre Zakarauskas received the B.Sc. degree in physics from the Universite du Quebec a Chicoutimi, in 1980, and the Ph.D degree in physics from the University of British Columbia, Vancouver, in 1984.From 1984 to 1986 he was employed at the Defence Research Establishment Atlantic, Dartmouth, Nova Scotia. Since 1986 he has been at the Defence Research Establishment Pacific, Victoria, British Columbia. His research interests include digital signal processing, underwater ambient noise, neural networks, psychoacoustics, and speech processing.
