Dongyong Dai was born in Guizhou, China, on May 11, 1960. He received the M.S. degree in mathematics from the University of Guizhou, China, in 1986 and the Ph.D. degree in medical image processing from the University of Glasgow, Glasgow, Scotland, U.K., in 1994.

He is currently employed at the Institute of Neurological Sciences, Southern General Hospital, Glasgow. His research interests include computer vision, pattern recognition, and medical image processing.
