Shuozhong Wang was born in Sichuan, China, on September 29, 1943. He received the B.S. degree in radio and electronics from Beijing University, China, in 1966, and the Ph.D. degree in electronic and electrical engineering from the University of Birmingham, England, in 1982.
He worked in the electronics industry before 1978. From 1983 to 1985, he was with Shanghai Acoustics Laboratory under the Chinese Academy of Sciences as a Research Fellow. Since 1985, he has been an Associate Professor at Shanghai University of Technology, China. From 1993 to 1994, he was a Visiting Associate Research Scientist at the University of Michigan, Ann Arbor. His primary fields of study are underwater acoustics, signal processing, and digital image processing. His recent research topics include underwater acoustic-signal design, ocean internal-wave modeling, acoustic-wave diffraction and scattering, and ultrasonic image processing.
