Keith J. Jones received the B.Sc. degree in mathematics from London University in 1974, the M.Sc. degree in applicable mathematics from the Cranfield Institute of Technology in 1977, and the Ph.D. degree in computer science from London University in 1992.

He has been engaged in the design of signal processing algorithms and systems for most of his working life, and has worked in the sonar field since 1985. He is currently employed as an algorithm specialist with GEC-Marconi Sonar Systems at Templecombe, in Somerset, England, where his main activity is in the design of fast/parallel algorithms for high-performance sonar signal processing systems. He has particular interest in the design of compact beamformers and DFT circuits, having developed a number of novel solutions, and more generally in the application of number theory, algebra, and nonstandard arithmetic structures to fast/parallel algorithm design. He is hoping to take up a Royal Society Research Fellowship in the near future, working in collaboration with the computer science department of Birckbeck College, London University, on high performance computing architectures. He has published a number of journal and book articles in the computing and signal processing literature and holds patents for original work on DFT circuit design for VLSI.

Dr. Jones is a chartered mathematician and a fellow of the Institute of Mathematics and its Applications.
