Joseph Chi-Kin Lau was born in Hong Kong in 1954. He was admitted to Vincennes University in 1973 under a scholarship from Dr. C. M. Chu of Hong Kong. In 1974, he transferred to Case Western Reserve University where he received the B.S.E.E. degree in 1976. He then studied in the Department of Coastal and Oceanographic Engineering of the University of Florida where he received the M.E. degree in 1978.He has been employed by the Computer Sciences Corporation (CSC) since 1978. CSC is the support contractor for the National Data Buoy Center (NDBC) at the National Space Technology Laboratories at NSTL, MS. Since 1980, he has served as CSC's Senior Systems Engineer in support of NDBC's Waves Program. His interests are microprocessor systems design and instrumentation development.
