Jean-Marie Q.D. Tran (M'89) received the Diploma of Engineer from the Ecole Nationale Supérierure de Techniques Avancées (ENSTA), Paris, France, in 1985, and the M.S. and Ph.D. degrees in oceanography (applied ocean science) from the University of California, San Diego, in 1988 and 1990, respectively.From 1986 to 1991, he worked in sonar signal processing and underwater acoustics at the Marine Physcial Laboratory of the Scripps Institution of Oceanography, San Diego, CA, as a Research Assistant and then as a postdoctoral researcher. In 1991, he joined the Signal Processing Department of Dassault Electronique, Saint-Cloud, France, as Systems Engineer. He is currently involved in signal and array processing projects applied to communicaitons, electronic countermeasures, and radar. His research interests include digital signal processing in general, instrumentation, underwater acoustics, and communications.
Dr. Tran is a member of the Acoustical Society of America. He received the Henri Kummerman Fellowship (Geneva, Switzerland) in 1986.
