Fred Aminzadeh (S'77-M'79-SM'80) received the M.S. degree from the University of Tehran in 1972 and the Ph.D. degree from the University of Southern California in 1979, all in electrical engineering.From 1972 to 1975 he taught at the University of Tabriz, Iran. In 1979 he joined Bell Laboratories in Murray Hill, NJ where he worked on mathematical modeling, time series analysis, and Kalman filtering. In 1982 he joined Unocal's Science and Technology Division in Brea, CA, working on signal processing, image processing, and pattern recognition applications in exploration. He is currently manager of Geophysical Research at Unocal. His research interests include seismic imaging, seismic signal processing, AI, fuzzy logic, and neural network applications in exploration.
