Ronald A. Wagstaff (M'74) received the B.S. degree in mathematics and engineering from Westminster College in 1964 and the M.S. degree in oceanic engineering and the Ph.D. degree in mechanical engineering from the University of Miami, Miami, FL, in 1966 and 1970, respectively.
He has been doing undersea acoustic research at Navy laboratories for more than twenty years, specializing in ambient noise measurement, modeling, and signal processing. He has devised several methods for analyzing and exploiting ambient noise which are in use by the Fleet and laboratories in other countries.
