Kazuo Sao was born in 1919. He graduated from the Department of Electrical Engineering, Nagoya University, Nagoya, Japan, in 1942, and received the Ph.D. degree in 1966.From 1942 to 1952, he worked at the Electro Technical Laboratory, Ministry of Communication, Tokyo, Japan, and was engaged in the research of atmospheric electricity. He subsequently became an Associate Professor at the Research Institute of Atmospherics, Nagoya University, Toyokawa, Japan. His interest is in the VLF and ELF propagation of atmospherics. He has been a Professor since 1966, and has extended his research field to include hyperbolic navigation. He is presently a Professor in the Department of Electrical Engineering, Meijo University, Nagoya, Japan.
Dr. San is a member of the Institute of Electronics and Communication Engineers of Japan and the Japan Institute of Navigation.
