Dipak Roy (S'76-M'77) was born in Calcutta, India, in 1948. He received the Bachelor of Electronics and Telecommunications Engineering degree and the Postgraduate Diploma in computer science from Jadavpur University, Calcutta, India, in 1970 and 1971, respectively, and the M.Eng. and Ph.D. degrees from Carleton University, Ottawa, Ont., Canada, in 1974 and 1977, respectively.He worked as a Scientific Officer in the Information, Analysis and Planning Group of the Electronics Commission, Government of India, for a period of one year. Between 1977 and 1979 he was a Research Engineer at CERL, Carleton University. He jointly formed Interactive Circuits and Systems (ICS) Limited, Ottawa, Ont., with Mr. Menard in 1980. Since forming ICS, he has been involved in various technical and administrative duties. He has authored many technical publications and holds a patent jointly with Mr. Menard.
