Gabriella Cincotti was born in Naples, Italy, in 1966. She received the Laurea (M.Sc.) degree cum laude in electronic engineering from "La Sapienza" University of Rome, Rome, Italy, in 1992. Her thesis discussed a quasi-optical launching system for lower hydrid waves to a plasma.
She was a Project Engineer at the Microwave Laboratory of ALENIA, Aeritalia & Selenia S.p.A., in Rome, from 1992 to 1994. She joined the Department of Electronic Engineering of University "Roma Tre," as Research Scientist, in October 1994. Her main research areas include theory and applications of optical coherence, laser beam propagation, diffractive optics, ultrasound medical imaging, and acoustic image processing.
