Anthony G. Bessios (S'90-M'94) was born in Greece, 1966. He received the Diploma degree from the National Technical University of Athens, Greece, in 1988, the M.S. and the Ph.D. degrees from Northeastern University, Boston, MA, in 1990 and 1993, respectively, all in electrical engineering.

From 1988 to 1991, he was a research assistant at the Communications and Digital Signal Processing Center at Northeastern University, and from 1991 to 1993, he joined the Signal and Image Processing Institute at the University of Southern California, Los Angeles, CA, as a visiting Research Assistant. From 1993 to 1994, he joined the Institute of Communications and Computer Systems at the NTUA as a Research Scientist, where he was involved in several EEC-funded R&D projects. During the same period he also consulted for the Hellenic Aerospace Industry Ltd., Tanagra, Greece, in the area of error detection/correction techniques for tropospheric digital radio communications. From 1994 to 1996 he was a Postdoctoral Fellow at Harbor Branch Oceanographic Institution, Fort Pierce, FL. Since Jan. 1996, he is with the Hard Disk Drive Business Unit of the Semiconductor Group at Texas Instruments. His research interests are higher-order spectral analysis, adaptive signal processing, detection and estimation theory. He is also interested in data transmission techniques, channel equalization with applications in microwave digital radio, and underwater acoustic communications.

Dr. Bessios is a member of the National Technical Chamber of Greece, and member of the IEEE Communications and Signal Processing societies.
