Magdy T. Hanna (S'81-M'85) received the B.S. degree (with honors) from Alexandria University, Egypt, in 1975, the M.S. degree from Cairo University, Cairo, Egypt, in 1980, and the M.S. and Ph.D. degrees from the University of Pittsburgh, Pittsburgh, PA in 1983 and 1985, respectively, all in electrical engineering.During the summer of 1983 he was a Research Assistant with the Very Large Array Telescope of the National Radio Astronomy Observatory, Soccoro, NM. From September 1985 to May 1987 he was a Visiting Assistant Professor in the Department of Electrical and Computer Engineering at the University of Iowa, Iowa City. During the summer of 1987 he taught on a part-time basis at the Institute of National Planning, Cairo, Egypt. Since January 1988, he has been an Assistant Professor in the Faculty of Engineering, Cairo University, Faiyum branch, Faiyum, Egypt. His main area of interest in research is digital signal processing and its applications.
Dr. Hanna is a member of Eta Kappa Nu and Sigma Xi. He was recognized as a University Scholar by the University of Pittsburgh on its annual Honors Day Convocation in 1985 for superior performance in the graduate program.
