Ludwik Kurz (M'60-SM'73) was born in Lvov, Poland. He received the B.E.E. and M.E.E. degrees from the City College of New York, New York City, in 1951 and 1955, respectively, and the Eng. Sc.D. degree from New York University, New York City, in 1961.From 1951 to 1959 he taught graduate and undergraduate courses in electrical engineering at the City College of New York. While at City College, he was awarded the National Science Foundation Faculty Fellowship for the period from September 1959 to January 1961. From January 1961 through August 1961, he was employed as a Research Scientist in the Research Division, College of Engineering, New York University. He was a member of the faculty of New York University, serving as Professor of Electrical Engineering and Project Director in the Laboratory of Electroscience Research. He is currently a Professor in the Department of Electrical Engineering and Computer Science at Polytechnic University, Brooklyn, New York. His principal interests are in the areas of communication systems optimization, image processing, and robust methodologies.
Dr. Kurz is a member of Eta Kappa Nu and Sigma Xi.
