Alex E. Hay received the B.Sc. degree in physics from the University of Western Ontario, Canada, in 1971 and the Ph.D. degree in physics and physical oceanography from the University of British Columbia, Canada, in 1981.
He is currently a Professor in the Department of Oceanography at Dalhousie University, Nova Scotia, Canada. His research interests are in ocean acoustics, nearshore and continental shelf oceanography, sediment dynamics, boundary layers, and sound propagation in turbulent suspension.
Dr. Hay is member of the American Geophysical Union and a fellow of the Acoustical Society of America.
