Craig L. Stevens recieved the B.E. degree in civil engineering from the University of Adelaide, South Australia, in 1987 and the Ph.D. degree in civil and environmental engineering from the Centre for Water Research at the University of Western Australia in 1992.
He held a post-doctoral position in the Department of Civil Engineering at the University of British Columbia, Canada, from 1991 to 1996, including a Canadian NSERC International Postdoctoral Fellowship. In 1996, he joined the ocean-atmosphere group at New Zealand's National Institute for Water and Atmospheric Research (NIWA), Wellington. His interests extend over a range of environmental fluid mechanics topics including surface and internal waves and related mixing, the effects of ocean waves on boundary layers around macrophytes, and transport in stratified fluids.
