Michiko Yamashita was born in Nishinomiya, Japan, on December 7, 1936. She received the B.Sc. degree in physics from Kobe University, Kobe, Japan, in 1959, and the M.Sc. degree in physics and the Ph.D. degree in electrical engineering from Nagoya University, Nagoya, Japan, in 1962 and 1969, respectively.From 1962 to 1976, she was a Research Assistant at the Research Institute of Atmospherics, Nagoya University, where she was engaged in research on the propagation of ELF and VLF atmospherics. Since 1977, she has been at Nagoya City College of Child Education, Owari-Asahi, Japan, and is currently a Professor. Her research interest involves the hyperbolic navigation system in radio propagation.
Dr. Yamashita is a member of the Japan Institute of Navigation and the Institute of Electronics and Communication Engineers of Japan.
