Masayoshi Yamaguchi was born in Osaka, Japan, in 1956. He received the B.S. and M.S. degrees in applied physics from Osaka University in 1979 and 1981, respectively. He then joined Sumitomo Electric Industries, Ltd., Osaka, where he is engaged in the research and development of an optical fiber system.Mr. Yamaguchi is a member of the Japan Society of Applied Physics.
