Joydeep Ghosh received the B.Tcch. degree in electrical cngineering from IIT, Kanpur, India in 1983, and the M.S. and Ph.D. degrees in computer engineering from the University of Southern California, in 1985 and 1988, respectively. He was the first member of the School of Engineering at USC to be awarded an "All-University Predoctoral Teaching Fellowship" for four years. His doctoral dissertation dealt with the architecture and applications of massively parallel systems such as artificial neural networks.

He is currently an Assistant Professor in the Department of Electrical and Computer Engineering at the University of Texas, Austin. His areas of interest are artificial neural systems and their applications in image analyses and signal processing, computer architecture, and massively parallel processing. He has more than 40 refereed publications in these areas. He served as the general chairman for the SPIE/SPSE Conference on Image Processing Architectures, Santa Clara, Feb. 1990, and is a member of the editorial board of IEEE Computer Society Press and of Pattern Recognition. Dr. Ghosh is the recepient of the 1992 Darlington Award for the Best Paper in IEEE Trans. Circuits and Systems.
