Michael S. Triantafyllou graduated from the National Technical University of Athens, Greece in 1974, and received the Sc.D. degree from the Massachusetts Institute of Technology in 1979.He joined the MIT faculty in 1979, and is currently a Professor of Ocean Engineering and Director of the Ocean Engineering Testing Tank Facility. He teaches and conducts research on the mechanics of cables, and on the dynamics and control of shear flows.
