Peter H. Dahl graduated from the University of Washington, Seattle, in 1976. In 1982 he received the M.S. degree from the University of Washington, College of Ocean and Fishery Sciences, specializing in marine acoustics.

He spent the next two years as a Research Engineer at Micro Pure Systems, Inc., in Warwick, RI, where he was engaged in research and development problems concerning ultrasonic detection and classification of fluid borne particles. He has now resumed graduate study at M.I.T. and Woods Hole Oceanographic Institution.
