Andrew B. Martinez (M'77) was born in Chincoteague, VA, in 1953. He received the B.S. degree in electrical engineering from Tulane University, New Orleans, LA, in 1978 and the Ph.D. degree in electrical engineering from Princenton University, Princeton, NJ, in 1982.

From 1982 to 1983, he served on the faculty of Southern Methodist University, Dallas, TX. From 1983 to the present, he has been on the faculty in the Department of Electricial Engineering and Computer Science, Tulane University, serving as Department Chair from 1991 to 1996. His teaching and research interests are digital signal processing and statistical communications.
