Stuart J. Anderson was born in Perth, Western Australia, in 1946. He was awarded the BSc. degree with First Class Honors in physics by the University of Western Australia in 1968, and the Ph.D. degree in physics in 1972.In 1974 he joined the JINDALEE OTH-B Radar Project Team where he was involved in theoretical and experimental studies of ship detection and remote sensing. Since 1979 he has been the leader of the JINDALEE Ocean Surveillance Program, with research interests in ionospheric physics, oceanography, signal processing, scattering theory, pattern recognition, and artificial intelligence.
Dr. Anderson is a member of the Australian Institute of Physics, the Australian Mathematical Society, the Australian Computer Society, the Australian Marine Science Association, and a Fellow of the Royal Meteorological Society (Australian Branch).
