Mona J. Authement graduated from the University of New Orleans in 1981 with a B.S. degree in mathematics. In 1984 she graduated from the same university with a M.S. in applied physics. For both degrees her concentration area was geology/ geophysics.In 1985 she joined the Ocean Acoustics Division of the Naval Ocean Research and Development Activity as a Physicist. In 1986 she became a Research Physicist for the same organization. Her work concerns signal processing, modeling of sound propagation in the ocean, active bistatic system performance predictions, and topographic noise stripping and detection enhancement.
