William Forsythe received the B.Sc. degree at Queen's University, Belfast, and the M.Sc. degree at Cranfield Institute of Technology in 1960 and 1962, respectively, and was awarded his Ph.D. degree at Loughborough University in 1989 for work carried out in the field of digital control.

After a period in industry, in guided weapons development, he took up a lecturing post at Loughborough University where he is now a Senior Lecturer interested chiefly in the fields of control and simulation.

Dr. Forsythe is a Chartered Engineer and a Member of the Institute of Measurement and Control.
