Douglas F. DeProspo was born in Elizabeth, NJ, on October 28, 1961. He received the B.S. degree in physics from Seton Hall University in 1983, and the Ph.D. degree in high energy physics from Rutgers University in 1991.Since 1991, he has worked at Areté Engineering Technologies Corporation, primarily on the applications of advanced signal processing techniques to oceanographic environments and phenomena. His activities have ranged from the study of wide-band signal propagation in shallow water environments to the spectral characterization of ocean ambient internal waves in one and two dimensions. Lately, his work has centered on using wide-band signals to detect and classify targets in shallow water environments.
