James A. Mercer received the B.S. degree in physics in 1968 and the Ph.D. degree in geophysics in 1983, both from the University of Washington, Seattle.
He is presently a Principal Physicist at the Applied Physics Laboratory, University of Washington, and a Research Associate Professor in Geophysics at the University of Washington. He is currently an Associate Editor of the U.S. Navy Journal of Underwater Acoustics.
