Gordon D. Burrows worked within the Department of Electronic and Electrical Engineering at the University of Birmingham, Birmingham, U.K., on over-the-horizon (OTH) radar for many years, before becoming, in 1983, the first member of Technical Staff to gain the Official Degree of B.Sc. for research into the use of FMICW radar for ionospheric sounding.He later successfully adapted this system to acquire high-quality sea-state data for later analysis of sea parameters. In addition to now working as a Senior Research Technician extending the range and flexibility of such systems, he has set up Radar Technical Services to engage in assisting companies to realize future projects.
