Kenneth E. Laws was born in San Rafael, CA, on January 31, 1962. He received the B.S. degree in physics in 1993, from San Francisco State University, San Francisco, CA, and the M.S. degree in 1996 from the University of California, Santa Cruz, where he is currently pursuing the Ph.D. degree in physics.
While an undergraduate, he was involved with research in the development of superconducting tunnel junctions as sub-atomic particle detectors and is coauthor of eight related publications. During the course of his graduate research, his primary interest has been in the remote sensing of the ocean surface using high-frequency radar. He is the co-author of seven publications related to the application of HF radar systems in oceanography.
