Anton Kummert was born in Amberg, Germany on April 6, 1959. He received the Dipl.Ing. (FH) degree from Fachhochschule Coburg, Germany in 1982, the Dipl.-Ing. degree from Ruhr-Universität Bochum, Germany in 1985, and the Dr-Ing. degree from Ruhr-Universität Bochum in 1988, all in electrical engineering.From 1985 to 1991, he was employed at the Department of Electrical Engineering, Ruhr-Universität Bochum. Since 1991 he has been employed at Atlas Elektronik GmbH, Bremen, Germany. He is also affiliated with Ruhr-Universität Bochum as a Lecturer in Communication Theory. His research interests include digital signal processing, adaptive systems, fuzzy theory, and sonar and radar signal processing.
