Ali M. Rushdi (S'73-M'81-SM'84) was born in Port Said, Egypt, on May 24, 1951. He received the B.Sc. degree (Hons.) in electrical engineering (electronics and communications) from Cairo University, Cairo, Egypt, in 1974, and the M.S. and Ph.D. degrees in electrical engineering from the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign in 1977 and 1980, respectively.In 1974 he was appointed Demonstrator and Instructor in the Electrical Engineering Department of Cairo University. From 1976 to 1980 he was Research Assistant in the Electrical Engineering Department of the University of Illinois. Since 1980 he has been with King Abdul Aziz University in Jeddah, Saudi Arabia, first as Assistant Professor and later as Associate Professor of Electrical and Computer Engineering. At King Abdul Aziz University he has structured and taught a variety of graduate and undergraduate courses and senior projects. He has published in the areas of electromagnetics, switching theory, reliability analysis, circuit theory, and engineering education.
Dr. Rushdi presently serves as a member of the Editorial Review Committee of the IEEE TRANSACTIONS ON INSTRUMENTATION AND MEASUREMENT and also as a referree for the IEEE TRANSACTIONS ON RELIABILITY. He is a member of the Engineers Syndicate of Egypt, AMSE, Eta Kappa Nu, and Phi Kappa Phi.
